If it doesn't look right, chop it (well, chop it anyway!).

To accurately cut two inches from the top, I taped the pillars with pieces of 2" wide tape and then sprayed some white rattle can paint over the edges of the tape. When the paint was dry, the tape was removed, and the unpainted portion was cut away with a cutoff wheel on a small grinder.
(July 2004)

Originally, the plans called for a one inch only chopped rear window, but plans changed and it was chopped two inches like te rest.

Making this car a Phaeton would be easy now. The windshield pillars are left intact for now, as they will be chopped less than the rest of the top.

Here the windshield pillars are chopped one inch, and the welding is underway.

The driver side door has had its chop job done and the welds are ground smooth.

Just a look from an other angle.

Since these photos were taken, a lot of work has been put into welding and grinding the doors. Some rust has been taken care of on both the doors and the rear quarters.
